Doug M. Alcoholics Anonymous speaker on 12-Step Recovery as "Alcoholism Treatment"

24/7 Helpline 888-242-7730

Awesome experience, strength, and hope at an AA meeting, and some funny stories too! GREAT tape!

Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!

You can find out more at: http://www.aa.org – Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site – As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.

It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today’s world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!

From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: “In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope.”

Integrates the presenter’s personal visit to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting with the core philosophy of treatment within the 12-step program; namely, that the underlying source of all addictive behaviors is identification with the personal ego. Hence, treatment is focused toward dismantling the previous identification; upon which the goal of remission of addictive behaviors follows quite organically.

Free Addiction Consultations – 888-242-7730 Bob D. – AA Speaker – "Access The Power" 12-Step Alcoholism Recovery

This is one of my FAVORITE talks from one of the best AA speakers out there! Bob D. hits it out of the park again with his articulation of the “Power” refered to in the Big Book and how important it is to actively engage in the Recovery Process. A message of hope and healing for sure! One of the things I enjoy about the tape is that it gives such a clear, concise summation of our message in a very entertaining and informative way! You can’t go wrong with a Bob D. speaker tape! ๐Ÿ™‚

TRANSCRIPT:

We tend to see the majority of our clients with addiction come in with mental health concerns that they may not realize they have because they havenโ€™t addressed it. They have been using substances. What we see for people with addiction is that sometime the addiction occurs because they are treating the mental health issue. So, they may have anxiety or depression and they donโ€™t know how to deal with it so they are self-medicating. And then what we find is that the addiction is then fueling additional symptoms of the mental health concern. You may have more anxiety. You may see more depression, just from the nature of what addiction does.

Some warning signs of mental illness in addiction include: fatigue, restlessness, a change in your emotional stability, a change in your feelings. If youโ€™re excessively sad, excessively worried. You could be hyperactive. You could be doing things you donโ€™t normally do, or a lack of interest in things you normally do.

When you recognize some of the signs and symptoms, the best thing to do is to ask for help. Go to see your friend, see a loved one you trust and ask for help. Look at advocating for yourself. See what the resources are around you. And ask for the help that you need. Thatโ€™s the most important thing โ€“ asking for help.
