Tyler ISD Pre-Med/Pre-Nursing students and Audio Visual (AV) students teamed up with the East Texas Substance Abuse Coalition to create and produce Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and presentations related to the prevention of substance abuse in the areas of alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs.
The students presented the PSAs and presentations to health officials, district administrators, community members and CTC students during a Substance Abuse Awareness event held at the Career & Technology Center. Following the presentations, members of the Sheriff’s office announced the installation of prescription drug collection boxes to be installed in locations around Tyler. The drop boxes allow for the safe, year round disposal of prescription drugs. Tyler ISD CTC students in the welding program partnered with the Sheriff’s Office to create the boxes.
