Abandoned Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Clinic

24/7 Helpline 888-242-7730

Warinilla House was the site of a former Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Clinic which closed down in 2016. Originally constructed in 1855 by the Holden family with further expansions done in the 1890’s. The site was purchased earlier this year by a developer for 4.5 million dollars with current plans for the block to be sub-divided and 3 new houses built. At the time of my visit the main house was still standing however the rest of the block had been cleared in preparation for new construction. Take a walk with me through this 162 year old building in its final weeks of existence.

Facebook LIVE with Dr. Amy McIntosh – Neuromuscular-Syndromic Scoliosis Patient Clinic

24/7 Helpline 888-242-7730

Scoliosis presents in many shapes and forms. Our experts in the spine center collaborate to determine the best and most effective techniques for treating spinal disorders.

Recently, the hospital created a clinic specifically for neuromuscular-syndromic scoliosis patients (NSP). This patient population consists of children diagnosed with neuromuscular (affects the muscles and nerves and can lead to scoliosis) and syndromic scoliosis (spine curve develops as part of a syndrome).

Because of the complexity of this disorder, these children need to be cared for by multiple specialists. The patients and families come to the hospital for one, comprehensive appointment that includes specialists from multiple disciplines.

Mayo Clinic study finds that cardiac rehab reduces mortality by 45 percent

24/7 Helpline 888-242-7730

Randal Thomas, M.D., director of Mayo Clinic’s Cardiovascular Health Clinic, and colleagues found that patients who participate in cardiac rehabilitation after having heart interventions such as angioplasty, stents and clot-busting drugs have a 45-percent lower mortality rate.

The research team studied data from over 2,300 patients between 1994 and 2008, and recently published the results in Circulation.

“We were able to follow their outcomes over time, based on whether or not they made it into cardiac rehabilitation,” says Dr. Thomas.

Only about 40 percent of patients in the study participated in cardiac rehabilitation. These findings are particularly important for interventional cardiologists, Dr. Thomas says, because encouraging patients to pursue cardiac rehab after their procedure can potentially save more lives than previously thought.
