The Benefits of Rehab (Addiction Treatment)

24/7 Helpline 888-242-7730

In this two minute video, several addiction therapists and a former patient describe the benefits of residential rehab treatment.

They also point out the crucial importance of starting addiction therapy as soon as possible. The longer you leave it the worse it gets and the harder it is to treat.

The Executive Rehab Guide advises employers, managers and company doctors on how to identify and help an employee with an alcohol, drug or gambling problem. It is an online collection of resources from professionals and therapists working in addiction treatment.

Aimed at managers, HR professionals and company doctors, the Executive Rehab Guide is an online guide published by Castle Craig Hospital, one of the UK’s leading alcohol and drug addiction rehab clinics.

Alcohol Addiction Treatment

http://www.alcoholeffects.pw
Alcohol addiction treatment begins with a person accepting the need for help and determined to have full recovery from alcohol drinking addiction. Is not easy for alcoholics to accept their problem with alcohol but until they do so they can’t have a successful treatment.

Once a person has lost control over the use of alcohol, cutting back or reducing the amount of drink taking would not help. The ultimate goal should be total elimination of alcohol drinking from the person’s lifestyle.

Detoxification
Many treatment plans begin with a detoxification program to help break your body’s physical addiction to alcohol. Detoxification is often performed in an inpatient therapy treatment center or hospital. It typically takes one week to complete. Because the symptoms of physical withdrawal can be dramatic, you may also be given medications to help prevent: shaking, confusion, hallucinations, convulsions.

Behavior modification
People who misuse alcohol are often addicted to the act of drinking, as much as the alcohol itself. For that reason, you may need to learn skills and coping mechanisms to help you avoid alcohol once you leave a treatment center or return to familiar environments where the urge to drink may be stronger. Your doctor may refer you to a counselor or other treatment program to help you learn those skills and coping strategies.

Counseling
Your doctor may also refer you to one-on-one or group counseling. Support groups can be especially helpful when you’re going through treatment for alcohol addiction. A support group can help you connect with other people who are facing similar challenges. They can help answer questions, provide encouragement, and direct you to support resources.

Long-term outlook
Recovery from alcohol addiction is a lifelong journey. You may face relapses and temptations for most of your life. It’s not uncommon to slip in and out of sobriety as you work your way through your addiction. Some people beat addiction the first time they try to become sober. Others battle alcohol dependence for many years. The more you try, the higher your chances of success.

Alcohol addiction can take a physical toll on your body, causing a variety of complications. Addiction is often accompanied by certain mood or psychological disorders, such as depression or anxiety. Along with your treatment for alcohol addiction, you may need to seek medical care for other complications you experience.

Drug testing is like a big business and one of the key people in the big business of drug testing is a guy who once testified in favor of one of the most abusive rehabs in American history. And he now is like a big wig in the drug testing field. And this program literally tortured people. They would like hold the kids down on the floor, until they wet or soiled themselves, as a punishment. They would punch them. They would sleep deprive them for like 48 or 72 hours. They would make them go through a spanking machine. I mean it was all kinds of really stupid, horrible, traumatic—and they would constantly emotionally attack these kids in order to break them. 50,000 American kids went through this program, which was known as Straight Incorporated. And the people who enabled it, the people who said this was the best program are still out there trying to sell monitoring for people who use drugs. And I find that offensive. I just think that if you have done something that is so harmful to people, that left many families broken and left at least thousands of people with PTSD, that you probably should not be having anything to do with anybody who uses drugs.

Addiction is a very human problem and this is often why people propose and some people benefit from a spiritual solution to it. That’s not to say we should treat medicine and medical conditions as spirituality, but the reality is that addiction and depression and a lot of other mental illnesses do often involve struggling with that potential question.

And so it is not going to be the case that you can just put a brain implant in and addiction it will go away without a big chunk of yourself going away. So the Chinese are horribly experimenting with this horrific brain surgery where they ablate, i.e. burn out, the nucleus accumbens, which is basically the brain region that provides pleasure and motivation, and they think that this is actually going to cure addiction. Of course, what happens is you get people who are just anhedonic, who relapsed because now they have even less.

So this idea that like we could use a drug that would block the effects of the drug of choice is generally misguided because the problem isn’t the drug of choice. The problem is: why do you need that drug, and why do those drugs appeal to you, and why you are trying to get out? Why you are trying to escape? And what you need in your life in order to feel comfortable and safe and productive? So I don’t think that there will be future weird cures like that. But what I do think is interesting about the future of drugs is that we can make better drugs.

Part of the reason that prohibition is collapsing at the moment is because of what are called new psychoactive substances or legal highs. And basically you can make a new recreational drug by sort of tweaking molecules of the other ones, and it will be technically legal because it hasn’t been made illegal. And what this reveals is that our system for making drugs illegal is completely irrational and based on 19th century prejudices. It has nothing to do with science. And if we apply science to this problem and look at—well, people are always going to want to alter their consciousness in some ways, how do we reduce the harm associated with this? How do we create drugs or medications that will allow people to feel safe and comfortable in the world but not be so distracting or problematic that they will not be able to connect with other people, they won’t be so out of it?

So I think the future of drugs is better drugs. I don’t think the future of drugs will be—or, you know, virtual reality; these kinds of things could all be very interesting, but I think that so long as people ask the question, “Why am I here?” and so long as people need each other to love and connect, we are going to have people who want to find ways to make that work better.

Rockstar (branded ROCKST★R) is an energy drink created in 2001.[1] With 14% of the US market in 2008, Rockstar is a leading energy drink brand.[2] Rockstar is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rockstar Energy Drink is available in fourteen different flavors, and in over twenty countries.

Founded in 1998 by Russell Weiner, the son of conservative talkshow host Michael Savage,[3] Rockstar launched into the fastest-growing segment of the USA beverage market, energy drinks.[4] As well as featuring different ingredients, which it claimed were “scientifically formulated to speed the recovery time of those who lead active and exhausting lifestyles—from athletes to rock stars,”[5] Rockstar sought to differentiate itself from the market leader Red Bull by using a 16 oz can size (against Red Bull’s 8 oz can) and marketing itself as “twice the size of Red Bull for the same price.”
By 2007, Rockstar was one of the top three energy drink brands in North America, (having enjoyed 155% growth in sales in 2004, reaching million[7]) and had sold over a billion cans.[8] It had 14% of the US energy drink market in 2008, and as of 2009 was available in over 20 countries, in addition to the United States. Rockstar switched distributors from Coca-Cola to PepsiCo in summer of 2009.
